From the Principal -

Mr Simon Cobiac

Our recent Prefect gathering with St Dominic's was once again a great success

Dear Families and Community of Blackfriars Priory School,

Reminder!

Parents and carers, please remember that tomorrow (Friday, 22 June) is a Pupil Free Day.

Prefects Conference 2018

The Annual Prefects Conference partnered with Dominic’s Priory College was hosted here at Blackfriars on Friday, 8 June. The purpose of the event was to bring together senior student leaders of both schools to form a partnership in leadership founded on the common virtues of Dominican Tradition. The conference agenda inspired an opportunity for integrated learning and values of collaborative leadership. The conference concluded with an inspirational address from Mr Patrick Kelly, Blackfriars Director of Development and Community Relationships. Mr Kelly shared with the leaders his own career journey, his memories of being a Blackfriars student (’90) and how the tapestry of significant life experiences have helped to shape his life and what he values today.

Year 11/12 SACE Examinations

This is an important week for Year 11 and 12 students who are sitting Mid-Year Stage 1 and 2 examinations. The examinations provide an opportunity for students to demonstrate their understanding and mastery of the concepts covered in each of their subjects. After the examinations subject teachers will give each student specific feedback, confirming concepts they have mastered in the exam and advising what each student can do to address deficiencies in their understanding or strategic approaches to problem solving or sitting examinations. We wish every student success throughout the week and during the process of receiving feedback from teachers on their results.

Vinnies Winter Appeal Can-Drive

The Vinnies Winter Appeal Can-Drive has been launched and I encourage all families to join students in donating to this worthy cause.  Please encourage and support your son in making a contribution to his Home Group/Class and living out the Dominican Pillar of SERVICE.

The winter weather has certainly arrived and thankfully we are all blessed with the comfort of food and warmth, so let us be unified with the students and lead by example the compassion and care we owe to others less fortunate.

Staff: Recruitment and Appointment of Deputy Principal (Secondary)

Parents may recall that the contract for the appointment of Mr David Ruggiero, the current Acting Deputy Principal (Secondary) concludes at the end of Term 3, 2018.  With this in mind, HENDER Consulting have been commissioned by Blackfriars to facilitate the recruitment process for the appointment of the substantive Deputy Principal (Secondary) from the beginning of Term 4 or by negotiation. For your information, advertising is scheduled to commence on Saturday, 23 June in The Advertiser and online.

Blackfriars 2018 Year 12 Formal

The Blackfriars Year 12 Formal is a much anticipated social event for our Year 12 boys coming at the end of the Mid-Year Stage 1 and Stage 2 examinations. The Formal provides an opportunity for boys to further learn the social graces of dressing up and hosting a partner to a formal dinner-dance function. All families of Year 12 boys have received a letter from me clearly communicating my expectations for their behaviour before, during and after the Formal. I am confident the evening will be a wonderful celebration and provide another milestone and wonderful memory for the boys of their final year at Blackfriars.
