Meet Katie Thorp

The Healthy Kids Advisor for Greater Shepparton, Katie will be supporting us over the next few years, to boost student access to healthy, delicious food and drink at our school.

She will work with us to provide guidance and support to:

promote water and reduce sugary drinks
reduce sweets and switch to healthier snacks
identify a food action/focus for the school
support healthy food and drink swaps
ensure a variety of cultural food choices
reduce dependency on processed foods
support the food and drink priorities of parents/caregivers
explore hands-on cooking activities and special food events
develop healthy fundraising ideas

Delivered by the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation, Healthy Kids Advisors is a 3-year initiative supported by the Victorian Government and the Australian Government. This community engagement initiative connects schools, outside-school-hours-care, sports clubs and community facilities in Greater Shepparton with pleasurable food education and the Vic Kids Eat Well movement.

Katie is based locally with existing community networks and understandings.

We are proud to have a Healthy Kids Advisor at our school and we look forward to sharing our progress with you.
