Curriculum Matters

Level 1 & 2

On Wednesday 27th August the Level 1 and 2 students enjoyed the “Train like a Vixen” excursion. We travelled to the State Netball Centre and got to do lots of fun activities on the netball courts. We practised passing, shooting and defending. We did obstacle courses and worked on our fitness but the best one was that we even got to play a game of Netball!

While we had snack, we were lucky enough to have a real Vixen come and visit us. Hannah Mundy told us all about how she become a netball player and then we got to ask her some questions.

It was a really fun excursion and it was so much running that a few of us had a little nap on the bus on the way home!

Level 3

Maths Challenge

This week in Level 3, students were given a hot chocolate recipe that serves one person. Their challenge was to apply their knowledge to calculate the ingredients required for their whole class! It was lots of fun and we realised how much maths was involved including multiplication, division, adding, subtracting and measuring in millilitres and litres. During this cold weather, everyone enjoyed a delicious warm chocolaty drink!

Level 4

On Wednesday 3 August the level 4 students had a visit from Supreme Incursions, as part of our inquiry unit “Amazing Inventions”. We had to make a variety of different billy karts to test and improve. Whilst some of us were designing and building, others were racing billy karts around the track. We all moved through the activities. The teachers were super impressed with our concentration, engagement and ideas. It was a fantastic incursion and we’d love to do it again.
