Staffing
Following on from last newsletter, I want to welcome Miss Zoe Callanan to the Jells Park staff. Zoe will be working 2 days a week in the Boost Program, supporting Mrs Mettrick. Unfortunately it is a little 'trimmed down' program, but will still provide some support to students that need a 'boost'.
Zac B - Student Fundraiser
Can I encourage the school community to support Zac in his personal fundraiser for Variety Hair for Heart. If you know Zac, he has a head of really long hair, well down his back. He will be having this cut and donated to make natural hair wigs for other children.
Let us help him achieve his $1500 target by donating as much as we can for this great cause. We will have a Crazy Hair Day (date TBC) to support this effort, and hopefully also get to see Zac have his hair cut!!
Please see Community Matters in this newsletter for more.
Go Fundme Link
Many families will have heard of the tragic house fire in Wheelers Hill a few weeks ago. The family affected was a former family of Jells Park PS. For those that knew them you might like to contribute to the Go Fundme page established to support the family at the difficult time.
COVID Response
The school is following all COVID Protocols as determined by the Education Department. In addition can I assure all Foundation parents that we have taken steps for the ELC building to have a 'deep' clean in the wake of the wave of COVID infections in that year level.
Curriculum
Has your child talked to you about 'Improvement Groups' recently? These are part of our Differentiated Teaching & Learning Model, where students are grouped according to their learning 'point of need' to address different standards of class work. This provides greater challenge and growth for all students, and is happening in all year levels at the moment. Have a chat with you child to find out what is happening.
Contact for a tree pruner????
Anyone in the community a tree pruner or have a good contact that will give us a reasonable price??
We need the courtyard trees pruned, which is easier in winter, but because of the height and risk it is not something we can do ourselves. Our current quotes to have this job done are outrageous so I thought the community might be able to help. Contact me on 9560-6494 if you can help.
