Celebrate Children's Day - “My Dreaming, My Future”.
National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day is held on 4th August each year to celebrate the strength, culture and to honour the importance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children within families and communities.
It's also an opportunity for all Australians to learn about the importance of culture and community in the life of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.
Children’s Day was first observed in 1988 and is coordinated by (SNAICC) The Secretariat of National Aboriginal and Islander Child Care.
This year's theme is, “My Dreaming, My Future”.

In Term 3, Koorie students at CHPS are learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture. They are involved in a 5 week Journey Tracks program. Delivered by Vanessa Murdoch, this is an initiative run in partnership with EACH Services. The program aims to build cultural identity in our students, make connections with other students and to learn about their culture within a safe environment. This term students have been involved in yarning circles, aboriginal games and are currently designing their own clapstick, using aboriginal symbols.
