Music News

Some exciting music news for our Year 3-6 students is that on Thursday 4th August, students in Year 3/4, Year 4/5 and Year 5/6 will be visiting the Arts Centre Melbourne in Southbank. We will be working in two groups and taking a guided, hour-long tour of the Arts Centre.  We will also take part in an ‘Into Music’ composition workshop at The Channel, which has music technology to assist in creating music.

This excursion is from a successful application we made to take part in the ‘Positive Start’ initiative by the Victorian Government; with the cost of this excursion and the bus being significantly subsidised.

We look forward to sharing news of our excursion and songwriting in upcoming newsletters.

The Grade Two children are now taking part in Choir on Monday afternoons, joining the Grade 3/4 and some 5/6 students. Given the enthusiasm of all our singers, I have recently updated our Choir website for any keen singers that would like to practice at home.

Here is the link to the website where children can get some inspiration to warm up their voices and sing along to some fun songs.

Here is a photo of our Preps enjoying using the djembe drums and chime bars this week to create their own sound stories about the weather. We are also learning a song about Raindrops and we used some finger puppets to help sing to each other.
