LITERACY

We have been focussing on making inferences when reading. An inference is something we make by using clues and evidence from what we are seeing and reading. The students have been practicing using clues from the text to make statements about what they are seeing.

We have also started a big write this week for students to work on their writing goals and practice receiving and providing feedback. We are doing our best to use simile, metaphor and personification to make our writing more interesting.

MATHS

We have finished our unit on multiplication and it is pleasing to see the progress students have made, especially when it comes to describing or showing their thinking. We have now started working on financial maths. The students are working on an ongoing project where they are designing their dream house. They have a budget of $750,000 to buy land and build a house. The students are calculating the total cost of building materials and inclusions, including flooring, curtains, garden landscaping and extras.

Camp Reminder

Next week we will be heading of the Camp Rumbug in South Gippsland. It is likely to be cold there so please make sure to pack extra layers of warm clothing. The bus will be leaving school at 9AM, so please ansure your child is at school by 8:45AM. We will be returning by 3PM on Friday. Please pack a plastic bag for wet or muddy clothing and remember any medication needs to come in a Zip Lock bag, along with dosage and administration times. Please only send enough to cover what will be needed for the tree days. This medication will need to be handed to Mr. Cameron on Wednesday morning.

Circus Skills

It's looking likely that our class will be presenting juggling at our end of term showcase, so any opportunity your child has to practise would help their confidence as we move forward. The children were also given a teaser as to which balance we will attempt, stay tuned for that one!

Here's what we've been up to last week.
