Science Morning!

What a wonderful morning our students were involved in! In House Groups they rotated around and participated in 4 different Science activities!  These are pictures from the Battery Power Fun activity.

Reading Groups

Deers - We have a happy group of 'Deers' this week as they finally began Literature Circles.  They have been working hard since Term 2, participating in workshops, learning about different Comprehension Strategies which translate into a special 'role' that they will undertake each week as they read the same novel together.  The different roles are Summariser, Discussion Director, Illustrator, Passage Picker and Word Master. Each week or fortnight they we will meet as a group and they will share their role with the group, discussing the shared text, then they will receive a new role and continue reading and the process continues! 

Pandas - The Pandas this week have been  working on monitoring and clarifying their reading.  We read a Short Read, (an excerpt from Wind in the Willows), then the students had to choose a word that they did not know the meaning of.  They then had to fill in a Graphic Organiser to explain the meaning of the word. 

Dragons - Our Dragons worked with Miss Becc on vocabulary, learning new words and using them in sentences.

Tigers - A weekly activity that all students are involved in is Read to Someone.  Students choose a 'Good Fit Book' and take it in turns to read to each other, listening and asking questions about their book.  They may also have a Reading Comprehension focus that they are working on for the week.
