Creating Futures – Education Changes Lives

Boorowa Central School celebrated Education Week this week. We kicked off with an Education Week Assembly on Monday where I spoke about the 2022 theme ‘Creating futures - education changes lives’, we enjoyed a musical performance, competition winners were announced and one student from each class/year group was recognised for creating a bright future for themselves by always applying their very best efforts to their learning. It was delightful to see so many parents and special friends join us at school once again after two restricted years. Thank you to those who could join us for the occasion.

The Education Week celebrations continued throughout the week with NAIDOC Day being celebrated on Tuesday, Numeracy Day on Wednesday, Book Day on Thursday, and an Academic Challenge Day today. Individual reports for each of these events can be found within this edition of the newsletter.

It was such a great week with many smiles and lots of laughter as students and staff alike enjoyed celebrating education in its many forms. Thank you to those parents and special visitors who joined us for the week. It was fantastic to have you back!

Parent Teacher Interviews

Semester One Parent Teacher Interviews are being held next week. Parents of children in Infants and Primary can book a timeslot with their teacher on the afternoons of Monday to Thursday, 1-4 August. Parents of Secondary students can book a timeslot between 5 and 7pm on Tuesday 2 August 2022.

Whilst semester reports are a detailed reflection of your child’s progress, meeting with teachers provides greater insight into strategies in which to ensure further improvement in the year to come for your child.

To book an interview slot, each child took home an information letter and unique access code. Please follow the instructions provided, use the code and access the Millennium portal to book an interview.

If you have any questions or need assistance, please do not hesitate to call the school on 6385 3009.

Welcome

We welcomed four new teachers this term and welcomed back two more.

Mrs Courtney White joins our school as the permanent mathematics teacher in secondary.

Ms Jessica Bromfield is joining us as a PDHPE teacher position in secondary for the semester.

Mrs Sue Dwyer and Mrs Jane McEvoy join us to teach the Yindyamarra class in primary this semester.

Mrs Julie Poplin returns to mentor Mrs White as she completes her final professional experience this term.

Mrs Proudford has returned one day a week to provide release from face to face teaching for Mr Rowley and Mr Stuart.

Welcome to all these new and returning teachers and thank you for choosing Boorowa Central School. The students are very grateful.

HSC Trial Examinations

The Year 12 HSC Trial Examinations are coming up in Week 5. For most courses, this is the final opportunity to gain valuable assessment marks that contribute to their Higher School Certificate. Year 12 students should have already begun preparations for these examinations by using time at home to study and practice past paper questions. If not, it is not too late to start now and work toward a result they can be proud of.

Crossing use

A reminder to all students that for their safety, when crossing the road on Pudman Street, they must use the crossing and follow the directions of our crossing guard Alex. By working together we can ensure that we can keep our children safe.

I am looking forward to a great term at Boorowa Central School
