Geography Competition

Written by Ms Rachel Jasper

Geography students from Mildura Christian College tested their geographical skills and knowledge against students from all around Australia in the 2022 Australian Geography Competition. Geography teacher, Ms Rachel Jasper, has recently received these results and is pleased with how our students performed.

“Two of our students have performed in the top 25% of their year level and received credits,” said Ms Jasper. “Nearly 70,000 students from across Australia entered the Australian Geography Competition so these results give us an external benchmark as to how our students are performing in certain aspects of geography.”

Rachel Honey, the Competition’s national coordinator, said, “The Competition aims to encourage student interest in geography and to reward student excellence.”

“Geography is such an important subject because it brings together the physical and human dimensions of our environment, helping students to develop a deeper understanding of our world and the challenges it faces,” said Ms Honey.

Well done to Toby Deroon and Anabelle Hawcroft on their achievements!
