Bacterial transformation

 

Our senior VCE Biology class conducted an experiment on bacterial transformation, in which they introduced a small circular piece of DNA known as a plasmid into bacterial cells. This technique is commonly used in recombinant DNA biotechnology, such as in the commercial production of human insulin (for the treatment of diabetes) in bacteria. 

 

 

Unit 3 Chemistry

Electroplating - Copper (Cu)

 

This week Unit 3 Chemistry students carried out an investigation on a factor affecting the electroplating of copper. They were fascinated to be able to see the plating take place in front of them. Their next challenge is to analyse their data!
