Bacterial transformation
Our senior VCE Biology class conducted an experiment on bacterial transformation, in which they introduced a small circular piece of DNA known as a plasmid into bacterial cells. This technique is commonly used in recombinant DNA biotechnology, such as in the commercial production of human insulin (for the treatment of diabetes) in bacteria.
Unit 3 Chemistry
Electroplating - Copper (Cu)
This week Unit 3 Chemistry students carried out an investigation on a factor affecting the electroplating of copper. They were fascinated to be able to see the plating take place in front of them. Their next challenge is to analyse their data!
