We are enjoying a lovely start to Term 3 in the Junior School. We extend a warm and heartfelt welcome to our new students and their families who have joined us at the beginning of this term. A special welcome also to our new Reception students, who are taking their first steps in their school journey with us.
We congratulate our new Semester 2 Student Representative Council (SRC) leaders who were presented with their badges during our Induction of Semester 2 Leaders Liturgy on Monday. During the liturgy the girls commit to show kindness and concern for others and to make our Junior School a happy and safe community that grows together in love and service of one another. We look forward to their contributions and ideas as they work together to create new initiatives and positive changes.
Rehearsals are in full swing as our Year 5 and 6 students prepare for our musical production of "Madagascar: A Musical Adventure" to be held in Week 4. Our Junior School musicals are always a highlight, and we can't wait to see the amazing talent and creativity of our girls on stage. From catchy tunes to vibrant costumes, this production will be an event not to be missed, tickets can be purchased at: https://events.humanitix.com/lc-junior-musical-2023
We are also delighted to be hosting our upcoming Father’s Day Breakfast on Thursday 31 August from 7.30am-8.30am by the Acacias Veranda. Year 4 students have been busy learning about coding, with some exciting projects to show for it. One of their most impressive creations was an animated explanation of the water cycle, which they coded themselves. This project required students to use their knowledge of coding concepts and storytelling to create an engaging and informative video.
In addition to this, the students also had the opportunity to work with robotics. They were tasked with designing and coding robots to perform different tasks. This project required a combination of problem-solving skills and technical know-how, as the students had to figure out how to make their robots move and respond to different inputs.
Overall, the Year 4 students have shown great enthusiasm and skill in their coding lessons. These projects not only help to develop their technical abilities, but also encourage creativity, teamwork, and critical thinking. We can't wait to see what they come up with next!

Term Three has started with excitement and we extend a warm welcome to the new girls and their families who have joined us as our Mid-year Reception cohort. We are so proud of how the girls have adjusted to their school life following visits last term as part of our Transition Program and their first week of school. Their smiles and confidence entering the learning environment and, witnessing the ‘older’ girls embrace and welcome them, are a reminder of the nurturing and inclusive nature of our Loreto College community.
