Year 3 News

Welcome Back To Term 3!

We have had a busy and exciting return to term with the start of many new topics and even a new specialist subject!

On Tuesday 18th July it was "Wear as you wish" day with a gold coin donation for the Make a Wish Foundation. We loved dressing up in our future careers and had a huge variety of different costumes throughout Year 3. We had students dress as designers, cheerleaders, sports stars, vets, scientists, content creators and archaeologists.  Here are some photos from a fun day.

I want to be an engineer like Herbert Hoover. He helped people all over the world with his engineering skills. He built dams and canals, and improved the mining industry. He also helped feed people during World War 1.

I think engineers are cool because they get to use their creativity to solve problems. They can build things that make our lives easier and more fun. I want to be an engineer to help people and make the world a better place.

I know it will be hard work, but I’m up for the challenge. I’m going to study hard and learn everything I can about engineering. I’m also going to volunteer in my community so I can get experience helping people.

I know I can achieve my dream if I work hard and never give up. I’m excited to see what the future holds from me, and I know I’m going to make a difference in the world.

Interview with Jen Baird

Jen B is a teacher assistant, who works with different children across BNPS and spends quite a few days in year three. We thought we’d ask her a few questions to find out a little bit more about her.

Q: How long have you been working here?

A: I have been working here for about 12 years!

Q: What is your favourite thing to do at school?

A: My favourite thing to do around the school is helping kids in the classroom.

Q: Do you like helping year 3?

A: Yes, I love helping every year level.

Q: How often do you work at the school?

A: 5 days a week.

Soccer

There has been a lot of talk about the FIFA Women’s World Cup that starts this Thursday and we are all really excited to see them in action. The teachers thought that would be a good reason to have Soccer unit in our sport sessions each Tuesday for this term. This week we learnt some skills and we had some students acting as assistant coaches whose job was to help us with our soccer drills and explain how to dribble, shoot and pass. Hopefully the teachers will join in. Next week we will be playing some mini games.

                                                                                                                                                                                      Healesville Sanctuary

We are super excited that we get to go to our first excursion in Year 3 and we are going to Healesville Sanctuary!!!!

The bus trip will take over an hour to get there which is a long time. We get to go for the whole day on Monday 24 July.

We’re really excited to go because everyone loves animals and want to know more about them, and their natural habitat and we also really want to see the bird show.

It’s really important that we bring a backpack with a water bottle, raincoat, lunch and a snack. We have to be at school by 8.30 am so that means we have to be ready on Sunday night and wake up earlier to be there on time.
