District Girls Gala Day

On the 11July, 55 girls from year 5 and 6 went over to Tulip Street Reserve for the district girls football gala day. We had 3 team representing the school which was the most in our region, so a huge congratulation goes out to the girls for their willingness to give it a go and for many, try something new. We had 1 team in pool A and 2 teams in pool B.

It was a beautiful day, which made for some great football and lots of friendly competitiveness throughout the day. Beauy North managed to win pool B, with Mrs Halls team coming out in first place and Mr Ross’ team with all year 5 girls coming just behind. The Pool A girls with Mr Farmer were fantastic, playing off against Black Rock in the grand final and putting in their best performance of the day coming out victorious, advancing then to the Division tournament.

This was played on the 17th out at Baxter park, were there was some really rough competition in a 13 team knockout style round robin. The girls battled hard all day in some difficult conditions, beating Cheltenham PS, Lloyd Street PS and Hughesdale PS to get into the grand final, to once again be played against Black Rock. The girls again saved their best performance for the grand final and once again won the day, now advancing to the Regional Carnival to be held on August the 1st.

The girls have improved so much already and should be very proud of their work so far, so let’s hope they can get even better again!

State Cross Country

The State XC championship were held last Thursday 13 July out at the Yarra Glen race track.

We are very proud and excited to announce that our 3 students who ran in the event have finished the gruelling race with super hard competition all exceeding their own expectations.

Congratulations to Xavier W who finished an overall 2nd in our Multiclass division making him the 2nd best XC runner in Victoria for his age group and his disability level. A fantastic achievement Xavier.

A BIG shout out to Sophie T, in 4C who is our first ever year 4 student to make it to State level in Cross Country over the past 10 years. She finished 29th overall out of approx. 90 competitors and was super proud and excited as she crossed the finish line. She even asked her mum if they could drive to Canberra to watch the National competition. I think the answer was No!:)  but the enthusiasm is unstoppable. Great running Sophie and we look forward to seeing how you go in the next few years.

Charlie C has again represented the school with a wonderful sporting achievement by making it to the State level in this event. He doesn’t train outside of school specifically in running other than his commitments to other sports and swimming activities but we are all extremely proud of his incredible effort up against some excellent runners who train regularly. He finished 40th overall in wet, muddy conditions but you can always count on Charlie to finish and chat about the event with a huge smile on his face. Great running Charlie. Congratulations.

The BNPS community are super proud of these 3 runners and the results they have achieved in Cross Country.
