Art Room

Students have really enjoyed the clay unit this term, as we focused again on Joshua Yeldham work, deepening our understanding of owls and his art techniques. Students in Prep classes made a simple pinch pot owl and added features such as eyes and wings.

The one/two classes used the double pinch pot technique to make their owl forms. Students had the choice to make a candle holder or hollow it out from the top or bottom. Students in classes three to six could choose any clay technique to use, based on their skill level. Students rolled out a slab and wrapped it around a cylinder form to create a vase style owl or they explored the pinch pot and coil technique. These look amazing and so imaginative. Grade six students also made their community tiles that will be placed on the school walls next to last year’s grade six tiles.

All 3/4 classes were invited to be involved in a collaborative art installation coordinated by artist Sarah Metzner. Students created artworks for a group exhibition titled: FLOW CLIMARTE. The exhibition collaborates with a wide range of artists, art professionals, and scientists to produce compelling programs for change. The installation consists of suspended vessels/boats occupied with groups of little figures made by students. The installation symbolises and brings mindfulness to the past and future movements of children, families and refugees from their homelands, communities and cultures, due to climate disasters.

Craft Group

The TPS community craft group is up and running again. This has always been a great way for our parents, grandparents and carers to meet other community members in a creative space, to create craft things to sell at our next BBQ or Art festival. If you are interested in picking up a new skill or would like to share a skill, then this would be perfect for you. Your toddlers are also welcome to join you in the art room.  Please contact Merrin for further information. memlayden@gmail.com

Thank you,
