The Chairman of Governors' Prize for Academic Achievement/Cena předsedy správní rady za nejlepší akademické výsledky 

Ema Pilná

In terms of report grades and predicted IB marks, Ema is at the top of her year. She works diligently across her subjects, completing tasks with a professional attitude and studying all of the course content in great depth. During her lessons, Ema always asked the most pertinent questions, never missing out any small detail and always thinking deeply about newly-introduced concepts. Moreover, Ema’s teachers have also commended the way in which she helps her fellow students – explaining things to them in a calm and patient way and inspiring others to match the high standards she sets for herself. Thoroughly deserved, the attributes listed constitute just a handful of the many positive factors that make this prestigious award thoroughly deserved. Ema’s academic outcomes are a testament to her unflagging work ethic and her determination to stretch herself and achieve her fullest potential.

 Pokud jde o známky a předpokládané výsledky zkoušek IB, je Ema nejlepší v ročníku. Ve všech předmětech pracuje svědomitě, úkoly plní s profesionálním přístupem a veškeré učivo studuje zevrubně. Při výuce se Ema vždy ptala na ty nejrelevantnější otázky, nikdy nevynechala žádný malý detail a vždy přemýšlela o nově představených konceptech do hloubky. Její učitelé navíc také ocenili způsob, jakým pomáhala svým spolužákům – vysvětlovala jim látku klidným a trpělivým způsobem a inspirovala ostatní, aby splnili vysoké standardy, které si sama stanovovala pro sebe. Tyto zmíněné kvality tvoří jen hrstku z mnoha pozitivních faktorů, díky kterým si Ema toto prestižní ocenění plně zaslouží. Její akademické výsledky jsou důkazem neutuchající pracovní etiky a odhodlání dosáhnout svého plného potenciálu.

Sofia Petriv 

Sofia is an exceptional individual who has consistently impressed her teachers with her positive approach to every challenge in life. From the very start of her time at the ECP Sofia was always willing to push herself beyond her comfort zone, and as Cultural Captain she was a key player in a really strong team of Ventus student leaders who kept her peers motivated through the challenges of remote learning. More recently, her proactive and committed response to providing support to her Ukrainian peers has been exemplary. Sofia has given much of her own time to act as a translator for the ECP on numerous occasions to help her fellow Ukrainians, and she has been a great support to many of her peers. Sofia’s confident, humorous approach to life only adds to her dedication to her studies, particularly the sciences. We are confident that Sofia will continue to deal with any challenges she faces with her trademark positivity and we wish her every success and happiness in her chosen path. 

Sofia je výjimečná osobnost, která neustále ohromuje své učitele svým pozitivním přístupem ke každé životní výzvě. Od samého začátku svého působení v Anglickém gymnáziu byla Sofia ochotná vystoupit ze své komfortní zóny a jako kulturní kapitánka byla klíčovým hráčem ve skutečně silném týmu studentských lídrů koleje Ventus, kteří udržovali své vrstevníky motivované i přes veškeré výzvy online výuky během pandemie. Nedávno příkladně a odhodlaně reagovala na poskytování podpory ukrajinským krajanům. Sofia věnovala hodně svého času tomu, aby opakovaně pomáhala jako překladatelka gymnázia v rámci pomoci Ukrajincům, a byla velkou oporou mnoha svým vrstevníkům. Sofiin sebevědomý a vtipný přístup k životu přispívá k jejímu odhodlání věnovat se studiu, zejména přírodním vědám. Jsme přesvědčeni, že se Sofia bude díky své pozitivitě i nadále vypořádávat se všemi výzvami a do budoucna jí přejeme hodně úspěchů a štěstí.

Canadian Mathematics Contest/Kanadská matematická soutěž 

With ECP students applying to an increasingly diverse range of universities post-Brexit, the Mathematics Faculty is broadening the range of competitions that are available to them. A small group of our Year 5 students recently took part in the Fermat Contest through the Centre for Education in Mathematics and Computing at the University of Waterloo in Canada, with Robert Rejna (medal-winner), Jan Fikar (not pictured), Gabriela Ottova, Lily Huong Mac and Robin Hermann all earning certificates of distinction. An excellent result for them especially as this was our first entry in the contest!

Jelikož se studenti ECP po brexitu hlásí na rozmanitější škálu univerzit, rozhodlo se oddělení matematiky rozšířit škálu soutěží, do kterých se studenti mohou zapojit. Malá skupina našich studentů 5. ročníku se nedávno zúčastnila soutěže Fermat prostřednictvím Centra pro vzdělávání matematiky a výpočetní techniky University of Waterloo v Kanadě. Všichni účastníci získali vyznamenání, což je vynikající výsledek vzhledem k tomu, že jsme se zúčastnili poprvé. UK Mathematics Trust Junior Maths Challenge/Matematiská soutěž UKMT - kategorie junior

Our Year 1 students took part in their first UKMT maths challenge with great results, including 4 gold certificates, 9 silver and 12 bronze ones. Congratulations!

Naši studenti 1. ročníku se zúčastnili své první matematické soutěže UKMT se skvělými výsledky, včetně 4 zlatých, 9 stříbrných a 12 bronzových certifikátů. Gratulujeme!

ECP students met with Prince Edward/Studenti ECP se setkali s princem Edwardem

On Thursday, May 25th, we had the opportunity to meet Prince Edward at an event organised by DofE International Award. During the morning, which we spent with other participants at the gold and silver levels of this award, we had a chance to attend presentations about various completed expeditions, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The event also included an exhibition of booths prepared by Youth centre Modřany with a technical focus. On the premises of the Areál Vltavanů centre, where the whole event took place, there was a presentation for the prince and the DofE coordinators prepared indoors. Participants had free time outdoors during the presentation, and later on, Prince Edward joined us outside for a brief presentation. Prince Edward was very kind and briefly talked to us about the award. Since 2023, Prince Edward has been the patron of the Duke of Edinburgh International Award, following in the footsteps of his father, Prince Philip. 

Thanks to the ECP’s rich history of participating in this programme at all three levels, we were able to tell the prince about our expeditions and the events that we have experienced while fulfilling the individual categories of this award. We proudly talked about the encouragement that we receive from our teachers. The prince also showed interest in our personal connection to DofE and our service and creative activities. Classmates Tomáš and Jakub from year 3, spoke about their work in the library and the progress of their silver expedition. Anna, from year 5, talked about dance and the new experiences she had thanks to DofE, and I then built upon my classmates' positive experiences and discussed the planning of our upcoming gold practice expedition in the Tatry Mountains, as well as how DofE connects my activities such as music, and scouting. During this event, we made friends with many other "Dofers" with whom we shared our stories and interesting moments we experienced thanks to DofE, and we listened to their experiences. This pleasant event encouraged us in the sometimes challenging process of expedition planning and strengthened our enthusiasm as we are continuing our story with the  Gold Duke of Edinburgh International award.

Ve čtvrtek 25. května jsme měli možnost setkat se s princem Edwardem na akci pořádanou programem Mezinárodní ceny vévody z Edinburghu (DofE). Během dopoledne, které jsme strávili s ostatními účastníky zlaté a stříbrné úrovně ocenění v rámci tohoto programu, jsme si vyslechli prezentace o různých uskutečněných expedicích, což jsme si velmi užili. Součástí akce byla také výstava stánků s technickým zaměřením připravených DDM Modřany. V areálu Vltavanů, kde se celá akce odehrávala, ale nechyběla ani prezentace pro prince a koordinátory DofE. Účastníci měli během prezentace volný program venku, kam později zavítal i princ Edward. Byl velmi laskavý a krátce s námi o účasti v  programu DofE pohovořil. Princ Edward cenu vévody z Edinburghu zaštiťuje od roku 2023, jako nástupce svého otce, prince Philipa. Díky bohaté tradici programu DofE v ECP na všech tří úrovní jsme mohli princi říci o našich expedicích a o příbězích, které nás provázejí v rámci plnění jednotlivých kategorií programu. Princ Edward se také zajímal o naše osobní propojení DofE se službou, aktivitou a kreativitou. Spolužáci z ECP, Tomáš a Jakub ze 3. ročníku, hovořili o své práci v knihovně a o průběhu jejich stříbrné expedice. Anna z 5. ročníku vyprávěla o tanci a nových zážitcích, které díky DofE získala. Já jsem poté navázala na pozitivní zkušenosti mých spolužáků a přiblížila plánování naší nastávající zlaté cvičné expedice v Tatrách a také o tom, jak DofE propojuje moje aktivity, hudbu a skauting. Během této akce jsme se spřátelili s mnoha ostatními „dofáky", se kterými jsme sdíleli naše příhody a zajímavosti, které jsme zažili díky programu DofE. Tato příjemná akce nás povzbudila v někdy náročném průběhu plánování expedicí a utužila naše nadšení z pokračování v plnění zlaté úrovně Mezinárodní ceny vévody z Edinburghu.

The theme of this year's Group 4 Project was Sporting Superstars. After collecting data at Sports Day, year 5 students enjoyed a day of collaboration, analysis and reflection.

Tématem letošního IB projektu Group 4 byly hvězdy sportu. Po sběru dat na sportovním dnuSports Day si studenti 5. ročníku užili den spolupráce, analýzy a reflexe.
