School Council

It was way back in 1986 that I first walked through the gates of MGSC as a Year 7 student.  From there, I completed my secondary education, went on to be an active participant of the MGSC Past Student Association, became a parent of a MGSC student and joined the School Council - going on to serve as Vice President and President.  Then my own daughter graduated from MGSC in 2021 and my time on school council ended along with what I thought would be my involvement in the broader school community.

Or so I thought.

It seems MGSC and I are destined to continue our association as I proudly take up the role of President of the MGSC School Council once more. Now as a community member of School Council, I was blown away at our first Council meeting the extraordinary energy and enthusiasm displayed by our School’s team of leaders, including Linda Brown, Carol Duggan and Detta Gordon whose ranks have been only enhanced since my departure in 2021 by another fabulous Assistant Principal in Hayley Dureau.

We were also given a presentation from Simone Bouchier the MGSC Careers & PAthways Coordinator , who delivered much insight into the school’s Year 12 performance, ATAR results and student Tertiary destinations over the past 5 years as well as hearing about the goals being set and worked towards for the future.

I was also thrilled to hear about the new MGSC Wellness Centre project being well underway - a fabulous initiative which I am sure will benefit our students in for many years to come.

All in all, whilst it feels like quite a while since I left school council at the conclusion of the 2021 school year, it also seems like yesterday and I look forward to my continuing on in the capacity of School Council member and the role of President of School Council now in 2023.  Thank you MGSC for having me back … again.

Kindest Regards
