Middle School Captains

Here is a message from one of our Middle School Captains.

“I’m Matilda and I’m your year ten middle school captain alongside Madelyn L. I'm looking forward to working with our leadership team to bring some great ideas to the table this year and help make them happen. If you have any worries, ideas or would like to address something in our year level, feel free to come have a chat with me!”

Work Experience

In the last year level assembly, the Year 10s were introduced to the very exciting idea of Work Experience. Work Experience is an opportunity for year 10 students to have more insight and experience in the occupation they may wish to pursue in the future. Many year 10’s have already begun applying to their various locations, some of these being hospitals, schools, restaurants and so many more! Work Experience will run from Tuesday 13 June to Friday 16 June. Good luck to all Year 10s!

Music mainstage

The 2023 Year 9 Music Mainstage class have been led through many new ideas this term. The most recent concept they have been looking at is world music. They’ve been checking out the different kinds of music around the world that aren’t influenced by western culture. The class has seen foreign instruments being used to create music that they might not have explored before, making connections to the elements of music they have learnt about previously. Following this class research, they are going solo and digging into a world music type of their choice. This topic has really influenced an interest in music that you wouldn’t have thought to look into otherwise!

Next Gen Design

The Year 9 Next Gen design have been up to quite a lot since the start of the year.  The idea of the task was to build a moving or working replica of a joint including motors and sensors. So from the first lesson we learnt how to use the hummingbird and how to code. We all familiarised ourselves with the many sensors and knobs, each group going through a series of trial and error with different equipment and codes. Looking around the classroom you could see many clever and creative minds being put to work. The the work of one of our groups. Kemy, Alex and Taliah made an elbow shoulder joint with all recycled materials. This showcases just a fraction of everything we've been up to so far. Thank you Mr. Murphy, and thank you Kemy for the images.
