Twilight Sports

Sports Captains Reflections
On the 6th of March the St John's Twighlight Sports were held at Bill Stewart Athletics track in Burwood. I'm in the green team and the other teams were red, yellow and blue. There were many events and some of my favourites were hurdles, relay and 400m run.
They were all pretty challenging but I pushed through and did really well.
The 400m run involved all of the year 6 girls racing around the whole track. I was feeling really nervous but as the whistle blew I started running and all the stress flew away. I knew how to pace myself so I wasn't sprinting at the start and using up all of my energy instead, I was just running at the start and going a bit faster as I ran. I looked ahead of me and saw Madie and Milla ahead of me. I was getting closer to the end so I sprinted past another runner and came second! Madie came first and I was really proud and happy.
Each team made team chants and we all did our chants throughout the night. It came closer to the end and everyone had finished their events so it was time for Mrs Gridley to announce the winners. Green came 4th, Red 3rd, Blue 2nd and Gold came first!
Overall it was a great night with lots of good sports and support.

Hi I’m Chase and I'm a sports captain and this is a report on the St John's Twilight Sports.
The Twilight Sports started at 4:45 after school. We all had to head to our teams, I had to go to the green team because I am the green team sports captain. Over on the left of us was the yellow team. Their captain was Lucas and Evie but Evie was not there as she was unwell. Over at blue we had Riley as sports captain and then finally at red team we had Isaac. We were all competing against one another.
First we had running in the 100 metre sprints and then the relays. We had a variety of mini activities like vortex, shot put, hurdles, high jump, long jump and discus. We all competed on every task earning points and trying to do our best. After the mini games ended we got to the big 400 metre race for grade 6. I just volunteered for fun because I could not run since I had a broken arm. The winners of the 400 metre race was Riley for the boys and for the girls it was Madie.
After the 400 metre race happened we had to chant because the team who had the best chant earned 100 points. At the end the winners were announced. Green came 4th, sadly but we tried really hard, red came 3rd, blue came 2nd and yellow won.
We all had a great time and enjoyed the whole event. I would like to thank the school once again for their amazing job.

Hi, my name is Lucas and I am sports captain for Coghlan. On Monday the 6th of March at Burwood Reserve we had our Twitlight Sports. It was a great night and everyone enjoyed it so much. My house Coghlan won and I felt so proud and happy, but before that there were the events. Blue team went really well in the running events and were winning by 1000 points but then gold smashed everyone in the field events and some students threw the vortex so far that it went off the track.
The captains of the teams for gold are Evie and I, for red it is Isaac, in green we have Chase, then also we had blue which was Riley B. For the 400m girls Madie won and for the boys, Riley B won.
When they were announcing the winners they called out 4th was Lyons/Green, 3rd was Durkin/Red, they then said 2nd was Dillion/Blue and that meant gold had won but no one realised and as soon as we did, we did our victory lap. When that was done they took a photo of us me holding the banner and Milla holding the trophy. It was a great night and everyone participated. I would like to say thank you to Mr Masters for organising the night, the other teachers for using their time to let us have a good night and to the people doing the barbeque. We are all so thankful for that night.
