Le Français

Bonjour et bienvenue à la dixième semaine du trimestre!
Students in grade 5 and 6 completed the term with recordings of Verse 2 and the chorus of Les Émotions. Their final task for the term was to complete a bright and engaging visual display on the topic of emotions for the French room.
Grade 3 and 4 worked on visual displays of vocabulary relating to "Les Sports et les Passe-temps", aiming to complete them in this final week of term.
Did you know that tennis originated in France? Tennis dates back to 12th century France when it was played in the form of a handball game called 'paume' or palm. The game involved hitting a ball back and forth by hand. In time, a black leather glove was used and then from there a handle was added to the glove, which formed the first racquet.
Foundation worked to become more familiar with their term's song: "Bonjour mes amis" (on Seesaw ). They practised singing and remembering the whole song with key greeting phrases and numbers from 0-12. Parents, if you have forgotten or want to learn some of these expressions, why not practice with your child during the holidays?
Grade1and 2 recorded their song about fruit and created a visual poster to incorporate "J'aime" and "je n'aime pas" about the fruit they like and don't like.
Do you know the story of the Church Bells in France? They stop ringing on Good Friday and they only ring again on Easter Sunday. Children are told that the bells fly to the Vatican on Good Friday and return laden with eggs and chocolates which they drop in gardens and other secret spots for children to find on Easter Sunday. "Que belle surprise!"
I hope you too find lots of Easter eggs this holiday and that you all have a great break and come back refreshed for Term 2.
Joyeuses Pâques tout le monde!
