Year 9
Term 1 for our Year 9s was all about finding their feet and developing relationships with each other and their teachers. In Week 8 we capped off what had already been a hugely successful few months with a couple of days down at Adventure Camp at Phillip Island. A one-stop shop of sorts, the resort includes many camp favourites including paired canoeing, a giant swing, a flying fox with a leisurely stroll down to Smiths Beach for a game of cricket also factored in. Communication skills, cooperation and patience was definitely needed for the raft-making activity, as was a supply of dry clothes after many of the constructed rafts unravelled while carrying the overeager students. This year we were also able to utilise the A Maze N Things theme park next door for the SkyTrail and mini-golf which were both a massive hit.
The students were also able to experience an array of local wildlife during their time. Possums, rabbits & wallabies all made their presence known, much to the wonder and surprise of many (although the possum in the cabin was perhaps received less favourably than the others!)
What was clearly evident by the end of the camp was how well all the students respected, supported and looked out for one another. Beyond this, the staff at both resorts continually conveyed their joy at how polite and well-behaved our students were. As a school, we couldn’t have been prouder of this cohort.
Thank you to all the staff who joined us this year, we couldn't have done it without you!
To the parents who continue to support the camp and the students for giving their all and committing to the school’s values and expectations we are truly grateful.
