Principal's Report

Dear Parents, Families and Community members,

Another week down at ACS and I hope that many families are able to attend our Picnic in the Playground event this evening, to finish it off in style.

Introducing Our New Leaders

Over the first few weeks, families will have noticed a number of new faces around the school; some of them being new staff.

At the end of 2019, we introduced most new staff via our school's Facebook page, but I'd like to take this opportunity to introduce a few of our new staff who are in key Leadership roles.

Each of these Leading Teachers is responsible for leading, guiding and supporting Staff and Students in specific Learning Communities. Their role is diverse, but fundamentally these wonderful people are highly experienced and capable teachers with extensive knowledge regarding Curriculum, Teaching and Learning.

As part of their role they will lead and support areas of curriculum development (among other things...) and are a day to day support and contact for staff and students. There may be occasions where our Leading Teachers are involved in communication, meetings or alike with parents, carers and other support people; however, your child's Home Group teacher is still your first point of contact for most things.

Please say hello when you see these people around the school and I know they are keen to get to know as many people as possible.

Krystina Simpson - Leading Teacher : Grade Prep - 2

Claire Govan - Leading Teacher : Grade 3-4

Kate Lachmund - Leading Teacher : Grade 5-6

Alison Balchan - Leading Teacher : Year 7-10

Harmony Week

Australia is a vibrant and multicultural country — from the oldest continuous culture of our first Australians to the cultures of our newest arrivals from around the world. Our cultural diversity is one of our greatest strengths and is at the heart of who we are. It makes Australia a great place to live.

Harmony Week is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background. It is a time to celebrate Australian multiculturalism, and the successful integration of migrants into our community.

Harmony Week began in 1999 and includes 21 March, which is the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.

Armstrong Creek School will be celebrating Harmony week from 16th to 20th of March.

We would like to invite interested families to share their culture with our students.

If you are interested in sharing stories, dance, song, music, cultural dishes or other parts of your families culture, please contact the office to register your interest by Wednesday 4th of March.

Have a great weekend!
