YEAR 8 CAMPUS NEWS

WEEK 8 REPORT

Assemblies provide a great opportunity to celebrate the achievements of students.  The Year 8 assembly will continue our focus on resilience whilst the next week’s whole College assembly will celebrate the achievements of the entire student body.  A whole College assembly means all Year 8 students will need to commence their day at the Enright Campus - meeting their teachers at the flag pole to have their names marked off the roll before moving to their homerooms.

Included are some images of students completing their current assessment task in integrated studies.  This task is an inquiry task where students have developed their own 'open ended' questions and have been carrying out their own investigations.

This is the first time at the Mercy Campus that the students have been given this level of autonomy in driving their own learning and so far the level of engagement and response from the students has been fantastic.

By continuing to focus on resilience in Term 3, we hope to have students developing their own mechanisms when things become overwhelming, a valuable tool for the latter years of their schooling. Please continue to talk your child about how they are coping with the stresses of school and ways in which they could potentially do this better.

Important note:

Year 8 students will complete Friday Periods 6 and 7 at the Enright Campus, due to the Mercy Campus being used for the funeral of Ms Deb Symes.  All students who are collected by parents after school will need to be picked up at the Enright Campus on Friday.
