Principal's Report

Every Student Matters

Cobram Secondary College is proud to be taking part in a long-term mental health promotion project, Live for Life. http://www.live4life.org.au/

Live for life is an innovative, evidence-based, local community-driven response to youth mental illness.  Live for Life’s vision is that all Victorian rural communities have the capacity to support, improve and invest in young people’s mental health and wellbeing.  This has been rolled out in Benalla, Macedon Ranges, Glenelg shires.

Cobram Secondary College is joined by six secondary schools – Cobram Anglican Grammar, Yarrawonga P-12, Sacred Heart College, Nathalia SC, Numurkah SC, St Mary of the Angels and community partners Uniting Care, Salvo Care, Berry Street, and the Moira Shire Council.  We believe that we can make a difference to our students across our shire.

The project will commence with a Launch day in Nathalia on the 25th March for Year 8 students and Mental Health First Aid Training for Year’s 8 & 11’s in Term 2.

It won't stop there. Over the coming months and years, we (the Live for Life Moira organising committee) will extend the Youth Mental Health First Aide training to adults – teachers, parents, carers, employers, community members.

Every opportunity taken

I was delighted to see the numbers of students participating in our Swimming Carnival.  It was warm day and the atmosphere electric!  Congratulations to our winners and I’m looking forward to cheering our swimming champions at the GMDSSV swimming sports in Shepparton on the 28th Feb.

We’re off to see Billy Elliot!!!  We were fortunate to secure funding to take 25 students to see Billy Elliott in Melbourne and will be taking music and production students.  We hope to inspire our students.

All staff Care

Thank you so much to the students and families who came to our Year 7 families to the 'Meet 'n' Greet' on Tuesday evening. It was a great opportunity to get to know new families and to share an update on our renovations.

Building update:

Our renovation project – the Year 7 & 8 Resource Centre starts on Monday.  The old library/VCE centre will be out of bounds, but we expect to move our year 7&8 classes into their new classrooms in early May.
