HPS SENIOR RECORDER ENSEMBLE members play
at the Monash Youth Music Festival
On Wednesday 14 August, four students represented Heidelberg Primary School at the 41st Annual Monash Youth Music Festival (formerly the Waverley Music Eisteddfod), held at Huntingtower School, Mt Waverley.
Senior Recorder Ensemble members Josh C, Priya N, Evie R and Alby S performed with great concentration in the 12 years and under Junior Recorder Ensemble section. It was wonderful for us to experience playing to the best of our ability in public and to hear such wide-ranging repertoire played so enthusiastically by the other recorder ensembles (from Carlton North PS, Loreto Mandeville Hall, Merri Creek PS, MLC Junior School and Mont Albert PS).
The adjudicator said the section was ‘amazing’ and it was very difficult to decide how to award the prizes. Highlights from our adjudicator’s report stated HPS had: ‘Great tuning, great articulation…A nice groove, with great lilt.’ Merri Creek PS earned an Honourable Mention, Carlton North PS was awarded third place, Mont Albert PS received second prize and Heidelberg PS won first place!
We are enormously grateful to all family members and HPS Staff who have supported our efforts leading up to this performance – and we especially appreciate parents battling the afternoon traffic to get everyone there on time!
Congratulations to Josh, Priya, Evie and Alby on tackling such an exciting and rewarding challenge!
