Cybersafety
Brett Lee, former Police Officer and detective who has worked in the field of Child Exploitation presented to students and parents on Tuesday 14 August. His experience in working on-line to catch criminals and predators makes Brett one of the most qualified speakers and he gave some insight into the dangers of the on-line world but also focused on things to do to keep safe.
He had some key messages for students:
- People you only know on the internet are strangers!
- The Internet is PUBLIC and PERMANENT
- ALWAYS protect personal details on-line
- Have rules for using the internet and computers
- Talk to a trusted adult if you have a problem.
I am hoping that students from Years 4-9 had reinforced key messages discussed at school and at home. Thank you also to the parents who came to the information session after school.
Professional Learning Day
Teachers spent the Professional Learning Day focusing on how data can be used to improve teaching and learning. A number of staff presented information to colleagues and it was an opportunity to reflect and learn new things. Teachers are also learners.
