Classroom News - Year 6

The Armidale Show
The Armidale Show was on the weekend and lots of kids from St Mary’s entered in the competitions. In year 6, five students entered and did well. The children entered a variety of categories like cooking, photography, and art. The children that entered photography were Heather Bassett, Alexis Cook, and Ella Munday. Heather, unfortunately, didn't place but Alexis entered a selfie with a friend which won 2nd place. Ella entered 5 photos one of which won 1st place, another got highly commended and overall Ella tied 12 years and under champion with another child. In the art section, Jemma Dyer entered an artwork of a chameleon and got 1st. Heather Bassett and Luke Rogers entered in the cooking section. Luke entered slices, cakes, biscuits, and muffins. He got two 1st places, one 2nd place, one 3rd and four highly commended. Heather entered a jam and coconut slice and placed 3rd. Well done all students who entered in the Armidale Show.

This week Year 6 have been working on their multiplication skills and learning how to multiply three-digit numbers by one and two digit numbers. One way of helping your child with this at home is ensuring they know their times tables and practising any they have difficulty recalling.
