‘Despite the tumour-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel's story is about to be completely rewritten.

Insightful, bold, irreverent, and raw, The Fault in Our Stars is award-winning author John Green's most ambitious and heartbreaking work yet, brilliantly exploring the funny, thrilling, and tragic business of being alive and in love.’ (penguin.com.au)

Upcoming competition – win The Hunger Games badge

To celebrate the release of the movie Catching Fire, based on the book in the  Hunger Games series,  McKinnon students will have a chance to win the fabulous badge worn by Katniss Everdeen as a tribute token in the 74th and 75th Hunger Games.  The badge became a sign of rebellion to the Capitol since mockingjays were created after the disastrous experiment with jabberjays.

If your child is a Hunger Games fan,  encourage them to enter this competition for a chance to win this sought after piece of memorabilia.

Holiday Reading Event for the Year 8s

The summer holidays are fast approaching with the luxury of long lazy days.  This is a great time to get lost in a fabulous, newly released book.  To encourage our students to continue being regular readers , The Little Bookroom will be visiting all of year 8 English classes in early December.

Students will have the opportunity to select a book, which the library will then purchase. Each student will then be able to borrow their selection over the summer holidays.

It would be great if you would encourage and talk to your child about what book(s) they might like to select.  Check out some titles at the following links:
