JUNIOR SPORTS REPORT
Congratulations to all Year 7 students involved in the Alternative Sports Gala afternoon. We were certainly practicing one of our Charters of 'Resilience’! It was a great opportunity for students to play minor association sports with the support of the local community groups.
McKinnon had wins with girls and boys handball, lawn bowls and lacrosse. Fingers crossed for better weather with the Year 8s on Friday!
Go McKinnon!!

YR 7 BOYS HOCKEY
The Year 7 Boys Hockey team travelled to Hawthorn to compete for the title of Southern Metropolitan Region Champions. After drawing the first game against Frankston, big victories were important and the boys showed no mercy in an 11-0 demolition of Fountain Gate. A 3-0 victory over Alkira was enough to see the side progress to the State Final. The highlight of the day was surely Lachlan Arneil bagging 11 of the sides 15 goals of the day.
The boys are looking forward to representing the school at the State Final on 20 November.

INTER GIRLS CRICKET
On Friday 8 November the Inter Girls Cricket team travelled to Yarragon to play the State Quarter Final against Nagle College Bairnsdale. McKinnon won the toss and choose to field. Nagle were 62 runs for no wickets with a state player making 47 but when she was dismissed McKinnon took 7 for 17 to fight back into the match with Cassie Semple taking 4 wickets. McKinnon chased down the target of 79 runs with 3 overs to spare with a sensational 51 not out from Melina Ayres.
This took the girls to the State Semi Final played on Tuesday 12 November at Oak Park which was cancelled due to rain.

INTER GIRLS HOCKEY
Congratulations to the Intermediate Girls Hockey team who are through to the State Finals after winning the Southern Metro Region Finals on Thursday 7 November. After defeating Frankston 4-0 in the opening match and a 6-0 win against Berwick (in which Monique Newman scored four first half goals), we still needed a win against Mt Eliza who had a better goal difference than us having scored thirteen goals in their first two matches. Phoebe Ponsford scored a magnificent goal in the first half to take a 1-0 lead and the girls were able to hang on through some fantastic defence against a very talented Mt Eliza team. The State Finals will take place on Thursday 14 November.
