FIRST WEEK IN THE CLASSROOM

Foundation

Foundation students had a wonderful start to school.  This week we were filling buckets, learning more about each other and the things we love.  When we're kind to others we fill fill their bucket with happiness and it helps to fill our own bucket too! We decorated our buckets, that were filled with pom poms for kind and thoughtful choices.

Grade One

The Grade 1 students have settled into school beautifully this week!  We have spent time getting to know each other and have completed lots of activities to celebrate Kindness Week.  It sounds like everyone has had a fun and exciting holiday and we can’t wait for the year ahead!

Grade Two

We have had a wonderful start to the year getting to know each other and what interest and ideas every student brings to our grade 2 community.  We are sure we are going to have a great year.  We have shared what we have done on holidays, investigated real life math problems, and set our classroom expectations by participating in lots of kindness activities.

Grade Three/Four

In Grade 3/4 this week we started to learn about “Learnership” which has 3 zones we operate in: The comfort zone, performance zone and the learning zone.  We also participated in a paper chain challenge to see who could make the longest chain!  It has been a great week getting to know everyone.

Grade Five

The Year 5 cohort have settled in to their new class for 2023. We are enjoying getting to know each other and celebrating our differences. As part of Kindness Week, we have written recounts about random acts of kindness that we remember from our holidays. We have also surveyed each other about our interests and presented this data in an accurate and neat manner. We are all looking forward to a wonderful year of learning ahead!

Grade Six

We welcomed our buddies this week to the start of their school journey.

Physical Education with Mrs Robinson

Interschool Sport will start next Friday 10th February for Grade 6's

Home Game Vs Kingston Heath

If you would like to volunteer your time and help out for Interschool Sports, please contact Mrs Robinson directly.

Music with Mrs Digby

It was lovely to see so many smiling faces in the Music Room this week.

Senior students had fun learning the ‘Dum Dum’ song, where we showed teamwork trying to remember and perform all of the silly moves involved!

Some of the junior classes ‘choofed’ around the classroom as trains, while the Foundations visited the ‘World of Music’ for the very first time. They loved copying the sounds of the slide whistle and saying hello to Funkey Monkey.

As we passed a ball around the room everyone was happy to introduce themselves and tell us something they liked or that they had done during the holidays. We are looking forward to many more dance, singing and instrument activities this term.

Art with Ms Reid

Below is a photo of students drawing a vase of flowers for kindness week in the rt room. Students took their pastel drawings home to give to someone they care about as an act of kindness.

Hello all and welcome back to 2023!

Book club is back again with plenty of reading goodies to be found inside. It looks a little different than previous years with a newspaper catalogue moving forward. The Issue 1 catalogue for 2023 should have been sent home this week. Just a reminder that the school does not take cash payments and you will need to order through the LOOP system. All details are on the last page of the catalogues.

Issue 1 orders need to be in by 9am Friday 17th February.

Thank you and happy reading!

GOOD NEWS STORY

On the 26th of December 2022, 10 students in Grade 3 were lucky enough to attend the National Anthem Ceremony at the Boxing Day Test at the MCG.

The day was fantastic, and prior to the boys walking out on to the MCG, they got to meet all of the Australian Cricket team.

They were so excited about this opportunity and were all well behaved.

Well done, Ben, Leo, Jack, Rhys, Koby, Rocco, Lewie, Camden, Henry and Jonah
