Australian Youth Polocrosse

Over the course of the break three of our students were selected into the Australian Youth Polocrosse team. This is an amazing achievement to have three players selected into the one Australian team. Congratulations must go to

Zoe Stevenson

Ryan Weston

Erica Stuart

We wish the three students all the best in their upcoming test series against South Africa at the end of April.

Inter-house Swimming Carnival

On Friday 3 February we held the annual inter-house swimming carnival. It was a great day of swimming with fantastic participation levels throughout the day. For the first time since 2007, Gordon house raced out to an early lead after the freestyle bracket. They were challenged throughout the day by Brown & Dean house, with the aforementioned closing Gordon’s lead to single digits. Despite this Gordon managed to hang on and lead the carnival from start to finish. The final placings were:

1st – Gordon house

2nd – Brown house

3rd – Dean house

4th – Williams house

5th – McLachlan house

6th – Richards house

7th – Douglas house

8th – Blackman house

ISA Touch Football

Division 1

What a fantastic game against BMGS. They were lucy enough to have Eden Hawker and young year 8, Rahni Jarick fill in for our superstar team. Heidi Ferguson, Bella Sinclair, Abbey Kiss, Molly Wilson, Brooke Rayner, Amaya Shipp, Annabelle Cooper, Eden Hawker & Rahni Jarick were outstanding as always. The girls worked hard and had to play out of position due to limited numbers with a 2-2 score at half time. The second half the girls came out firing, with a runaway try from Brooke Rayner, followed by Annabelle Cooper scoring 2, and speedy Amaya Shipp putting the ball on the line making the score 6-2.

Inter Bullfrogs

The inter bullfrogs played exceptionally well today but unfortunately BMGS came away with a 5-3 win. A huge effort for the girls as they applied the skills learnt in training and they were executed well! Our new recruits Oli, Grace and Caitlyn played amazing and we are fortunate enough to welcome them to our team for the remainder of the season! A big effort from Liv Warner who scored a hat trick!

Inter Alpacas

The inter alpacas started the years fixture again with a 8-1 loss against SPGS. However the score line wasn’t reflective of how the girls played as the tries they let in were from silly mistakes that are easily corrected. The middles including Kate, Lily B, Scarlett and Isobel played well as they played with intensity in defence. Lilly M, Lilly H, Jess, Bridget, Emma and Sarah all shared the responsibility of being link and wing without hesitation stepping up when asked to play multiple roles. Overall a great effort

Junior Butterflies

Despite the Western Sydney heat, we had a great win from the junior butterflies this week against St Paul's in Penrith. Congratulations to all the girls involved, with a finishing score of 11 to 1.

Junior Camels

The Camels faced a BMGS side who had beaten the Camels the last time they met.

The Camels played extremely well, working hard for each other, looking to spread the ball in attack and applying pressure in defence.

Rahni Jarick and May Kelly both had an outstanding first half with Rahni scoring 4 tries and May scoring 2, to put Kinross ahead 6 -1 at half time.

The second half saw the Camels run away with the game, with tries to Lily Smith, Neevy Graham, Millie Taylor, Lucy Atkinson, another try to May Kelly and a great run-away try to Sophie Staniforth. Ally Ward went agonisingly close to picking up two tries as well.

A great team effort to start the new year.

KWS7: 12 v BMGS: 1

ISA Tennis Report – Round 7

Kinross Wolaroi School welcomed Blue Mountains Grammar School (BMGS), St Stanislaus' College (SSC) and Scots All Saints College (SASC) back to Orange for our first weekend back in the competition for 2023. All the students who attended were enthusiastic and ready for some singles and doubles play after the summer holidays. KWS Odds were up against BMGS Evens and were convincing in their win of 16 sets to 3. KWS Evens played against BMGS Odds and were also successful in their campaign, winning 13 sets to 7.

Well done to Milli Mackay for her win in a tiring match against her opponent where she played 2 tiebreakers throughout the game.

Special mention to Rory Gulliver for his debut in the team this weekend where he won both his doubles and singles matches.

A big thank you also goes to our gap staff Charlize Trieloff  and Ethan Phillipson for their help on Saturday- very much appreciated.
