Principals' Message

Hello Parents and Friends,

TPPS has been a thriving learning community over the past two weeks.  Now that the students are all settled in, we have seen our regular classroom, support/extension, sustainability and specialist programs take place.  It has been wonderful to see our students learning inside and outside of the classroom and competing on the sporting fields during interschool sports.

We would like to thank all parents and carers that attended our Getting to Know You interviews on Wednesday.   Our teachers gained an excellent insight into their students, and it was so beneficial to meet with parents to commence the important relationship between home and school. Our next formal parent/teacher meeting will take place after the Semester 1 reports are published in Term 2.  Please note – at any time you need to meet or talk with your child’s teacher, please make an appointment.  Our doors are always open.

PFA Twilight Evening - Monday 27 February 5:00 - 6:30pm

All TPPS families are warmly invited to our Family Twilight Night on Monday 27 February.

Bring a picnic dinner and enjoy the company of our community on the front oval.  The team from ‘Proactivity’ will be running sports activities for the children between 5:30pm and 6:30pm.

We look forward to seeing you on the night and enjoying each other’s company!

Reminder – this is an alcohol-free event.

2024 Prep Enrolments

As outlined in our last newsletter, The Department of Education has introduced a new Prep enrolment timeline for 2024. Within this process, Victorian government primary schools are unable to receive enrolment applications for Prep 2024 until Term 2.

The state-wide timeline for Prep 2024 is as follows:

  1. Enrolment applications open for Prep 2024 government primary schools on Monday 24 April 2023 (First day of Term 2).
  2. Submit an enrolment application for Prep by Friday 28 July 2023.
  3. You will be notified of the outcome of your application by Friday 11 August 2023. If you receive an offer of placement, you should accept the offer by Friday 25 August 2023

We are currently accepting expression of interest from prospective parents from within or outside of our zone for Prep 2024.  This will inform the school of any interest of attending Templestowe Park, allow us to keep families updated with important information, provide notice of our pre-Prep activities at the school and allow us to send  an enrolment form when applications open in Term 2.

Grade 6 Leadership Badge Presentation

At our special assembly on Friday 10th February we presented our 2023 School Leaders

 with their leadership badges.

Our local Member of Parliament, Mr Matthew Guy addressed our school leaders and presented them with their badges.  Mr Guy emphasised our RRIPO values in his speech and the importance of using them to be outstanding student leaders in 2023.  We are so proud of our entire Grade 6 cohort.  They will all be exceptional leaders for our school throughout 2023.

Parents and Friends Association (PFA)

We had our PFA AGM and first meeting this morning and we are all excited about what is in store for 2023.  We are pleased to inform the community that the following parents have been appointed as office bearers for 2023:  Kate Claringbould – President; Diana Danilovic  – Vice President; Mary Manfre – Secretary and Thurka Kalaichelvan – Treasurer.

Check out the PFA section of the newsletter to keep track of all the fun community building events that our PFA undertake throughout the year.

Please see Kate, Diana, Mary and Thurka from left to right below.  Congratulations to Kate and her team!

Thank You Mrs Boucher and Welcome to Mrs Sime!

We are very happy to inform the community that Mrs Narelle Sime will commence teaching in 4A on Monday 27th February.  Unfortunately, Ms Asees Kaur was unable to take up her position at Templestowe Park in 2023 and we had to replace her.

Mrs Sime is a very accomplished teacher and most recently she was a Leading Teacher at another school in the inner east of Melbourne.

I would like to thank Mrs Hayley Boucher for her outstanding teaching in 4A over the first four weeks of term.  The students have had a smooth and productive start to the school year.

School Tours

We currently undertake school tours for prospective families on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday mornings.  Please call Brenda or Katie in the office to book.  Please encourage your family and friends to reach out and book a time if they are thinking of attending TPPS.

Principals’ Award

At our assembly this afternoon we had the pleasure of presenting the Principals’ Award to Edward S in 6K.  Edward has developed so well during his time at TPPS. An excellent example of his resilience was when he was playing octopus tiggy this week and he got tagged and fell over, leaving him cut up and bruised all over.  Edward took deep breaths, was happy to be patched up and bounced back very quickly.  Within the classroom, he always makes good learning choices, is respectful, follows instructions and completes his work to the best of his ability.  His personal growth and effort over the past 6 months has been exceptional.  We are so proud of you, Edward!

Take care and have a great weekend!
