Upcoming events
Wakakirri is back for 2023! Rehearsals have begun (as of Tues March 7th) and we are so excited for this year’s show.
Our dance this year tells the story of the Wright brothers, the two men who invented the aeroplane. It’s a story of persistence, resilience and following your dreams.
We have had an overwhelming amount of interest in Wakakirri 2023. Over the coming weeks I will be running rehearsals/ auditions for various parts. If your child has expressed interest in being part of Wakakirri, they will be expected to attend the next two scheduled rehearsals. These will be held on Tuesdays, after lunch.
However, it may be that the role they wish to do does not end up being available. For example, I can only have 14 students on backstage crew and I need to give preference to years five and six students who may not get another opportunity to perform. If this means that your child would prefer not to participate and to try again next year instead, this is fine. It also may be that your child attends a rehearsal or two and then decides that Wakakirri is not for them. This is also fine. If your child changes their mind about participating in Wakakirri over the next fortnight, please encourage them to come and tell me so that I can take them off the list. No one will be charged their fee until I have confirmed numbers.
Thank you for your support and enthusiasm, I’m sure it will be yet another wonderful show!

Year 2 Willum Warrain Aboriginal Excursion - Mon. 27th March
This term in Inquiry the Grade 2 students are learning about the history of our local area including events how people's lives and the area around us has changed over time. To support this learning and also the learning during Indigenous Studies we have planned an excursion to the Willum Warrain Aboriginal Association. Here we will participate in a guided tour, giving the children a cultural experience of our local area. After lunch we will also take a short stroll along the Hastings foreshore before returning back to school. We are looking forward to a fun and educational day out!
3-6 Swimming - Tues 28th Mar - Wed 5th April (excluding Fri 31st Mar)
As part of our Health and Physical Education Curriculum the Middle & Senior School children will be participating in a swimming program at Core24. As this is an integral part of the Health and Physical Education Program and is a high priority of the government for all primary aged children to learn to swim, it is an expectation that all students attend the swimming program. They will be assessed for the Royal Life Victorian Water Safety Certificate.
* The children will attend the pool for 6 sessions on the following dates: Tuesday 28th March to Wednesday 5th April 2023 (excluding Friday 31st March).* Session times will be running all day, starting at 9am.
* You will be notified which session your child will be attending when numbers are finalised along with a detailed note listing student requirements and organisation for the program. We will be walking to the pool each day.
The cost of these lessons will be covered by the school.
Please confirm your child's attendance on Sentral and make sure that all medical details are up to date.
