Somerville Slammers Basketball

Hi wonderful Somerville families,

We are looking for anyone who wants to play basketball.

Somerville Slammers Basketball Club now has 11 teams who play at Somerville Recreation Stadium on Saturdays U8s - U12s, Monday for the under 14 age group. Some of these teams have players moving up age groups and need some new players. We also have the option to start girls teams from under 8s if we got enough players.

If your child is interested in playing basketball for our club please email your child’s name and date of birth to raelene.harvey@education.vic.gov.au and we will try to add them to a current team if there is a space or make some new under 8 teams if we get the numbers.

If you are a parent of an under 8 child and would be interested in coaching or team managing let me know.

Basketball is a great social game for kids to spread their social skills amongst different groups.

Any questions please send me an email.

Regards Raelene

Families wanting to set up Centrelink or Payment Plans please contact Jane in the office. Curriculum Contributions are voluntary financial contributions for curriculum items and activities which the school deems necessary for students to learn the Curriculum.

Extra-Curricular Items and Activities are items and activities that enhance or broaden the schooling experience of students. Camps, Excursions and Incursions payments are not included in the contributions for 2023. They will be charged via ‘Sentral Activities’ closer to the activity being organised as a user-pays basis. CSEF if applicable, can be applied to these events.

Somerville Primary School make every effort to keep the cost of items and activities to a minimum and affordable for all families.

Schools provide students with free instruction to fulfil the standard Victorian curriculum and we want to assure you that all contributions are voluntary. Nevertheless, the ongoing support of our families ensures that our school can offer the best possible education and support for our students. We want to thank you for all your support. This has made a huge difference to our school and the programs we can offer.

For further information on the Department’s Parent Payments Policy please see a one-page overview on our website under Policies.

We continue to welcome your other voluntary contributions which support non-curriculum items and activities that relate to the school’s functions and objectives. You can make a general voluntary contribution that goes towards all of our school’s important priorities for 2023 as well as providing additional activities and services for all students. E.g., College Building Fund, Wellbeing programs, First Aid Equipment, School sports Victoria association and Schools grounds maintenance and improvements.

Your child will not be disadvantaged if you do not make a voluntary contribution.

Kind Regards,

Somerville Primary School
