Wellbeing 2023

On Wednesday the 8th February all year 9 students attended a performance called ‘Wired’. The performance follows the journey of two students whose lives move in different directions: one towards stress, anxiety and overload, and the other towards depression and disconnection. When their worlds collided, our year 9 students helped them choose a different path.

Wired was an interactive theatre experience that tackled some of the big issues affecting students, including social isolation, bullying, online safety, school stressors, family relationships and pressure from social media. It addressed barriers to help-seeking and provided students with strategies for resilience, problem-solving, goal-setting and positive mental health.

On Wednesday the 8th February all year 7 students attended an incursion called ‘Think you Know’ run by Youth Resource Officer, Leading Senior Sergeant Wendy Sheilds from Victoria Police. Wendy taught year 7s about cyber safety, legislation in relation to selfies and nudes and explained the importance of privacy settings on social media.

Year 7s left with a breadth of knowledge about the importance of keeping safe online and where to go for help if they do feel unsafe or need help.
