Follow the Dream - Students Chase Dreams at the RAAF

Samson Jones, Keneifa Hayes and Tyler Kunoth got a taste of life in the Air Force this week after they were selected to attend the 2-day Air Force Familiarisation program at RAAF in Tindal.

The boys were selected after showing interest in a career in the ADF after the ADF indigenous recruitment team visited the St Philip's Follow the Dream students earlier in the term.

During the week the boys experienced a tour of the base that included visiting the military working dog unit, maintenance workshop (mechanics, electricians), medical facilities, fire fighter units, Search and Rescue helicopters, the Air Traffic Control tower, Aircraft, and aircraft maintenance and the NORFORCE unit.

Highlights for the boys were seeing the combat aircraft up close as it took off and landed as well as getting to shoot the water cannon at the fire fighter unit.

The boys were surprised by the number of careers and the First Nations pathways on offer at the RAAF and are now looking to take up a career in the ADF.

The Polly Farmer Foundation would like to thank the ADF and the Department of Defence for its support with flights and accommodation for the boys to attend.
