Reef and Rainforest STARR Trip 2023

Science, Technology, Arts in the Reef and Rainforest

An exciting opportunity awaits for student in Years 9, 10 and 11 in 2023!

St Philip’s College is planning a nine-day trip to the Great Barrier Reef (Orpheus Island) and the tropical rainforest in the Wet Tropics area north of Townsville in the second week of the September/October holidays next year. The dates of the trip run from 30th of September to 8th of October 2023.

This will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to immerse yourself in amazing reef and rainforest environments, and to learn about these wild and beautiful places with the help of experts in the field.

Students will have the opportunity to stay at the research station on Orpheus Island for four days/three nights, followed by three days in the rainforest at Paluma Educational Centre where we will continue exploring the environment, conducting research, solving problems for a sustainable future, and representing our experiences in a creative and interesting way.

An information night will be held on Wednesday 19 October (Week 2) at 6:00pm in the Fred McKay Theatrette. All interested students and their parents are invited to learn more about the trip and to ask questions.

Looking forward to seeing you there!
