Running Club Returns to Ferndale

On Tuesday we had running club back at Ferndale. Despite a chilly start, it was a beautiful morning and it was great to enjoy being fit and active together on the oval. A big thank you to Mr Johnson for his continued dedication to keeping this program running so well.

Year 1 Author Study

This term in grade 1 our Author Study is Oliver Jeffers. This week we read, 'The Great Paper Caper.' This is a story about a bear cutting down branches to make paper for a paper plane competition. All the grade 1 students enjoyed decorating and making paper planes. Their highlight was being able to test out their planes and whose plane could fly the furthest.

Year 3 News

On Tuesday this week, our classrooms were transformed into science laboratories as the Year 3s hosted two guest presenters from Swinburne University and participated in a series of experiments which explored different states of matter.

Here are some student reflections after our incursion.

“We got to play with oobleck…You have to put it into your hand and when you squeeze it, it is a solid and when you release it, it is a liquid.” Tess

“Today we did an explosion with Abbey. But my favourite was the oobleck. When you squeeze it, it turns hard because you give it energy.” Sofia
