Respectful Relationships

Problem Solving is our Rights, Resilience and Respectful Relationships focus in Term 4. This week in 5/6, we have been looking at: ok we have a problem, how can we deal with it?  We defined a problem as something that impacts you and others and you want to change it. We also defined options as a time when you have multiple choices.

The students used given scenarios, or took from their own personal lives, and created a flower which shows the problem at the stem and then possible ways of dealing with it as the petals. It is important to look at both more and less constructive ways of approaching problems as we all have those impulses to deal with things in a not so great way from time to time. Some possible ideas of how to solve problems were: get upset, say sorry, find a compromise, storm off or tell an adult. Finally the students chose a solution they felt was going to best help to solve the problem and recorded it in the centre of the flower.

Problem solving is such an important and useful skill in everyday life. Those students who can problem solve in social situations, and all the way through to in Maths lessons, will go on to being able to apply these strategies into adulthood.

100 STICKERS

Well done to Ava Brewer on receiving her 100th sticker this week. She is our first ever Spring Gully student to reach the milestone! Ava has worked extremely hard all year and always demonstrates our School Values and how to 'Be Awesome'.

We asked Ava some questions...

Ava, how many stickers do you have?

100!

That's awesome - how are you going to spend them?

Hmmm...I'm not sure! Maybe have lunch with Mr Trezise

I've heard you get to have lemonade and ice-cream - how does that sound?

Good! My favourite ice cream is the reindeer one.

How did you get so many stickers?

Because I was going a good job.

Have you got any advice for other kids to get to 100?

Listen good!
