Grade 6 News

We have started to look through some photos of our Grade 6 students over the years. They are totally adorable! We are asking that those student who have not spent their whole primary schooling at SGPS bring in their school photos from previous schools so we can add them to the slideshow.

Grade 5 News

A note went out last week about the 2023 Grade 6 T-shirts. They are not due back for a couple of weeks, but if you could get it back sooner rather than later that would be super helpful in getting the ball rolling with designs and orders.

Teddy Bear Picnic 2.0

With the end of the year fast approaching, the Grade 6 students in particular have been reminiscing about fun events over their time at primary school. As part of this, we decided to host a Grade 5/6 Teddy Bear Picnic. It was great to look at old photos, and take some new ones. There were plenty of very loved bears and other toys that made their way back to SGPS for the first time in 5 or 6 years!

Upcoming Fortnight

This fortnight in reading, we will be looking at asking questions throughout the reading process (before, during and after reading) as a great tool to deepen our understanding of texts. We will also ensure that we are answering all parts of a question and using evidence from the text to support our ideas. In writing, we will be focusing on procedural writing. As part of this we will be making sure that we use appropriate verbs, adverbs and technical language.

In Mathematics, we will continue with our focus on Location and Transformation which involves map construction, navigational language, symmetrical patterns and translations. In Week 6 we will be revising place value and the four operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division). Over the next couple of weeks we will also continue with the process of testing students ahead of reporting writing.
