From the Principal's Desk

Hats off to our teachers for World Teachers Day on Friday 28 October. Our teachers have shown great resilience during challenging times, and they can give our students the best future possible. Thank you for all that you do for our school community.
A huge congratulations to our New England Sings students and staff for all your work with the New England Sings performance. “You’re the Voice” gave me goose bumps. Thank you to Ruth Clendinning who volunteers her time for our school choirs every week. Thank you also to Miss Landow who supported our students across the weekend and during school rehearsals ensuring our students got to participate in such an amazing experience.
Archie Cooper and Nixon Kennedy attended the NSW PSSA Athletics last week. Both boys achieved excellent results and got to experience first hand state of the art facilities. Nixon came an overall 25th in the state after coming 5th in his heat. Archie came 20th out of 40. We are so proud of you boys.
This week we were sending Elsie Piddington off to the NSW PSSA Cricket championships. Unfortunately, due to flooding this championship has been cancelled, which is extremely disappointing. We are all very proud of your selection Elsie and look forward to seeing your name on the Super Sixers board.
We can’t wait to see on Friday 28 October our Grandparents or other older friends, from 10:00-11:00am to come into our school and spend time with their Grandchildren. All classes will be doing various activities and Grandparents are encouraged to visit the different classes their Grandchildren are in and spend some time looking at the learning taking place within our school.
On Friday 28 October students are encouraged to wear out of school uniform for Bandanna Day and donate a gold coin. Bandanna Day is the flagship fundraising and awareness campaign for Canteen. This Bandanna Day, we are supporting young people impacted by cancer by selling bandannas and fundraising for Canteen. Bandanas can be purchased at school on Friday 28th October, and cost $5 each. Please bring the correct amount of money.
With life largely back to normal, the Armidale Triathlon Club would like to invite schools to enter teams of students to participate in our Schools Team Triathlon Challenge on 13 November 2022. Students are encouraged to enter a school team using the registration published in COMPASS. Teachers will not be responsible for students at this event, however are happy to assist students with forming teams.
Stage 1 swimming started last week and students enjoyed learning about being water safe and water aware. This program will continue for 8 weeks. Years 3-6 will also participate in a water safety lifesaving program in weeks 6-9. A note will go out on COMPASS.
With Mr Reeves is not returning until the end of Term 1, 2023. Mrs Pennington and myself will continue to share the role of Relieving Principal in 2023.
