Acting Leader of Learning and Teaching Will Lyon

Hello MCC community!

A couple of items to cover for this week’s newsletter. Firstly, a well-deserved congratulations to our graduating class of 2022. Your hard work and perseverance in often challenging circumstances has led you to this point so well done! I would also like to extend a shout out in recognition to the ever diligent and dedicated staff who have guided you on your learning journeys during your time at Marian Catholic College. In the break before exams Year 12 should spend the time studying and revising content and completing past papers to further develop your confidence in your subjects. This week your final reports have been released for you to view on Compass.

For each ATAR subject, teachers have reported on:

  • Commitment to Learning
  • Progressive Assessment Rank
  • Examination Mark
  • Examination Rank
  • Commendations and Recommendations
  • VET subjects also detail workplace hours completed.

Students should also take note of recommendations made by teachers to effectively prepare for their upcoming HSC Exams.

We also encourage all parents to have conversations with their children about what they have done well, what they need to improve, how they can do this and how they can support their child.

If anyone has any problems in accessing reports please contact our IT Helpdesk.

Congratulations again on the completion of Year 12 studies and we take this opportunity to wish all students well in their upcoming HSC exams.

Additionally, Year 11 have now finished their preliminary exams and to co-opt the speech former US President and leader of Allied forces in Europe in World War Two – Dwight D Eisenhower speaking to Allied soldiers on the night before D-Day 1944 (adjusted for a school setting): “You are about to embark upon a great undertaking (the HSC course) towards which you (and your support network) have striven these many months. The hopes and prayers of our community and your families march with you. MCC has full confidence in your courage and devotion to your studies. Good luck! And let us beseech the blessing of Almighty God upon this great and noble undertaking”. Upon your return as Year 12 it is vital that you discuss your exams results with your teachers and focus in on areas that need further improvement – if you have questions ask them!

To all students have a restful and enjoyable break and see you at the start of term 4 (10/10/2022).

Cordially
