Glen Innes High School Dance Team

What a week for our Glen Innes High School Dance Team!

On Monday 17 October, five of our dancers (Ryan McAllister, Phoebe Millar, Charlotte Cameron, Jazmin Forrester, and Amalah Boney-Jerrard)  woke up bright and early to travel to Tamworth for their first rehearsal for School Spectacular at Oxley High School. All students enjoyed the day and really liked their choreography.

Tuesday saw the start of the Tamworth Dance Festival Regional Ensemble rehearsals. Our Intermediate Students (Tahlia Husband, Maggie Duddy, Emily Lawler, Emma McIntyre (GIPS), Payten Ward, and Gabrielle Masterson) rehearsed their two performances: Boom Boom and Dancing on My Own and our Senior Dancers (Jazmin Forrester and Amalah Boney Jerrard) rehearsed their dances: Doja Remix and Not Just a Girl.  Afterward, both groups came together to rehearse Let's Groove.

On Wednesday 19 October, our Regional Ensemble dancers were joined by the rest of their dance team (Ryan McAllister, Charlotte Cameron, Jasmine Packer, Charlotte Campbell, Delaney Doyle, and Nikkita Taylor along with two Primary school dancers Jess Packer and Emma McIntyre) for a full day of rehearsing their eleven dance numbers. That night the whole team went out for a lovely meal at the Long Yard, followed by a makeup and hair tutorial given by Charlotte Cameron.

Thursday 20 October and Friday 21 October were two massive days of performances. All dances were performed at the highest standard and were crowd favourites. A number of audience members came up to our performers and parents congratulating them on their outstanding performances. The school is extremely proud and would like to congratulate our dancers.

Ryan McAllister has been a huge part of the Glen Innes High School Dance Team for many years, and this year saw him perform at his last Dance Festival. Ryan along with our school dancers performed his HSC dance number, Reflection. This was a beautiful number that Ryan choreographed and was a real pleasure to watch. Ryan, you will be truly missed.

A huge thank you must go to the team's inspirational dance Teacher, Lindy Alt. Our students are so lucky to have a teacher who is so dedicated, who gives so much of her time and energy, and who inspires our students to be the best dancers they can be.

Thank you also goes out to all of our dance mums who worked tirelessly behind the scenes, sewing costumes, helping with hair and makeup, quick costume changes, and generally supporting our dancers, Lindy, and other mums, not to mention all the yummy food that was provided.
