Author visit with Jodi Toering

On Monday, a selection of our 3/4 students participated in a whole day writing workshop, run by the amazing Creswick-based author Jodi Toering who wrote the picture story book Mallee Sky.

Our mini-authors were able to develop their ideas through the use of figurative language, sentence structure and working on the premise of 'show, don't tell' the reader. The students got to create their own 'take away box' full of ideas, words, phrases and helpful hints to take away from the workshop and use in their own writing.

Our students had a wonderful day with Jodi and can't wait to share their published books with her and the wider BPS community! Watch this space 👓

It has been a busy couple of weeks in the rest of Grade 3/4. We have started looking at writing our own book reviews and are looking at what makes a good book review. Everyone has selected a picture story and we will be writing reviews which we hope to put on the library catalogue website.

In maths we have been looking at 3D shapes. We have made our own 3D shapes, gone on a scavenger hunt to find the different kinds of shapes in the playground, and constructed prisms and pyramids out of match sticks and playdough. We also used some of our maths skills during a very wet recess to measure across the classroom using unifix blocks.

We are all really looking forward to going to camp and had a competition this week to design the front and back cover of our camp booklet, which will revealed shortly!
