Secondary 11/12

Team Leader's Message

Term 4

Another action packed term has passed us by, bittersweet in our section, as it brings to a conclusion the formal schooling journey for our  Secondary Year 12 students.

In these last 10 weeks we have managed to pack in not only completing VCAL outcomes and for some finishing SBAT’s but also an awesome Camp for 3 nights down in Lakes Entrance. Students went on a cruise of the lakes by boat and travelled  into the town by Segway. They battled it out in combat archery and laser tag as well as eating a scrumptuous meal at the Lakes Club, pizza at Whiters Big 4 and a huge BBQ meal cooked by our Bunnnings expert BBQers. All the while making memories to last a lifetime with friends that whilst not being seen as often will not be forgotten. Thanks go to all the students for displaying maturity and a positive attitude at all times, and to the staff for making it an awesome experience for everyone.

In our final week ,students attended Luna Park and had a final get together disco with the Year 11’s before we concluded their journey with Graduation Ceremony on December 1st at the University Hill Conference Centre.  A packed house of  over 200 people with not many dry eyes in the audience as our students shone making their final speeches.

As the culmination of the Horticulture and Essendon Community Centre programs, Year 11 students participated in a Hanging Basket competition. There were lots of beautiful baskets displayed at the Community centre and were judged by independent judges. The basket made by class 11D stood out and was the overall winner, congratulations.

Finally, once the Year 12’s graduated, our Year 11 students prepared to become the leaders of the school by presenting their speeches for School Captain.  It was fantastic to see how the confidence in our students has developed over the past year with so many students willing to put their hand up to be a school captain.  It was a close run with excellent arguments for why people should be elected. In the end the students voted and we have 4 new, very capable students ready to represent their school at events in 2023.

Year 11’s finished the year off with a wet but fun day out at Funfields in Whittlesea.  Everyone had a great time.

Have a safe and happy break and we look forward to seeing everyone next year.
