Year 5/6 Library and Street Art Tour

Writtne by Otis Farington 5/6E

On Monday, we had an excursion to the new library that recently opened. We took a bus ride there, hence the rainy weather but we were inside for most of the trop, so it didn't really matter. We arrived right outside of Tafe, which was just next to the library. We all walked in to see out tour guide standing by some green chairs, the walls had holes in them and after being informed by the guide we learnt that the building dated back to the olden days. It was heritage and the holes were created by peeling plaster off the architecture and since it was heritage they couldn't edit it. Then we entered another room, it had large tables and another room inside of it with sound proof walls, we had a brief visit to the cafe then entered the new part of the building. There were tons of books and even DVD's. There was basically every every genre of book and that was just the children's area. After taking the elevator to the other floors we saw even more types of books. After visiting almost every room we had some free time, our library cards were handed to us, and we moved off to borrow some books. Once we finished our time there we thanked the tour guide and headed back to school. It was an exciting excursion!

EAL Art Sessions

Indigenous Language Sessions with Mel Steffenson

Students have been enjoying learning local language during their lessons with Mel Steffenson. Mel has been to almost all of the classes, with only four remaining. Year 3/4 classes are learning the names of materials found in nature, such as leaves, rocks and soil, and then creating art pieces using those materials. The finished pieces look amazing!

Mel will also be coming to assembly on Friday 9th December to showcase what the students have been learning.
