Principal's message

Dear Parents/Carers,

ART EXHIBITION

We were overwhelmed by the fantastic turnout at the Art Exhibition launch on Tuesday.

There was great enthusiasm from students, parents, grandparents and other family members as the works were unveiled.

The art pieces are a result of a years’ effort in the Art room with different perspectives and genre presented. You really had to take the time to look at the pictures closely to see all of the different elements. As a school we are so proud of our students’ endeavour and creativity. The Arts are so important to our well-being and we have decided to include a whole school concert in 2023 to re-introduce performing arts back into our school.

Sincerest congratulations must go to Donna Dixon for her hard work and dedication to our Art program in 2022 and for co-ordinating this wonderful event for our school.

Thanks to Megan Nicolson who opened our exhibition. Megan works at the Warrnambool Art Gallery and is a parent at our school and her message is for us to develop a lifelong appreciation of Arts and to continue practising Art as adults as many of us tend to let it go.

Many other staff, students and helpers were involved as well, including Cherine Owen, Edwina Medro, Pat Kluver, Janine Kairl, Tristan Forster and the stringed ensemble. They were ably joined by Steph Hann on violin. They provided a special soundtrack for the launch. We hope to see them again in action at our Christmas Extravaganza.

Congratulations to Harvey Crothers 3/4 B who won the $100 Gateway Plaza Voucher- Lucky Door prize. Below are some photos of Harvey finding out he was the winner. All community members are welcome to visit the exhibition until Friday 25th November. Thank-you to all parents and family members for supporting our great school.

NAPLAN 2022

The final NAPLAN results have been returned after many months. Schools are rated according to demographic (similar schools), Network (local schools) and State (Victorian schools). Our Year 3 students produced excellent results leading similar schools and network schools in all areas – Reading, Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation, Writing and Numeracy. We were on par with Victorian schools which includes Catholic, Private and Independent sectors. Our Year 5 students also produced good results on par with similar and network schools in most areas. We understand that NAPLAN is a snapshot at a point in time and if you have any concerns regarding your child’s development you should contact your child’s teacher.

ATTITUDES TO SCHOOL SURVEY RESULTS 2022

Have you ever wondered how the students view their learning experience at Warrnambool Primary School? The Year 4-6 students participate in the Attitudes to School Survey every year and are asked many searching questions about their experience at school. The results are in and the positive endorsement at Warrnambool Primary School is significantly higher than similar, network and Victorian schools. This is a reflection of our whole school community approach to our well-being and learning programs. A special mention goes to our students and staff for working together in a co-ordinated and co-operative environment.

UPCOMING SCHOOL EVENTS

CHRISTMAS EXTRAVAGANZA - Thursday 8 December 2022

We are looking forward to our Christmas Extravaganza on Thursday 8 December 2022. The children are excited about performing and enjoying time with their families at the end of a very busy year. There are many food and drink options available and its going to be an excellent evening. Thom Fraser is the MC for the night and we’d like to see everyone in Christmas theme. On a lesser note somebody chose to remove our banner which was displayed on the Raglan Parade fence. This was kindly donated by Stuart and Nadine Dawe. If you hear of its whereabouts please let us know.

Enjoy your weekend.
