Drama

Year 9

Year 9 students had the opportunity to perform their class play The IT for an invited audience last week. The students did very well, despite several unforeseen absences, and all worked together to ensure the show could go on. This was the largest audience the class has performed for and was a good way for students to build their confidence for future performances.

Students Emily Saeki, Andy Owen, Ella Saxon, Max Schneider and Maddison Bainbridge performed a 1 hour musical 'Connected' about cyberbullying this week. They performed for Mater Dei Primary School Year 6 students, Year 7 students and other classes. The students did an excellent job and had great responses from their audiences.

In Year 10 Drama, students spent the earlier part of the term devising their own mini theatre performances based on a given stimulus and a series of elements they had to incorporate into their performances. The class also had the opportunity to perform the play A Series of Public Apologies to an invited audience; the production was a combination of live and recorded scenes and gave the students the experience of working with different production elements in order to create a polished performance.

HSC Drama

This term, our Year 11 Drama students started their HSC Drama studies. We have spent this term focusing on their study of Australian Drama and the study of two plays, The Removalists and Norm and Ahmed. Students have read the plays, considered the plays’ social, cultural and political contexts and spent time experientially engaging with the plays by working in the role of a director and as actors. Students have also started work on their Individual Projects.
