Visual Arts / Photography

As another year concludes the creative achievements of our students continue to grow and develop. We look forward to 2023, with many exciting opportunities and plans to have more public exhibitions and performances for our students to experience.

We also sadly will say goodbye to Mrs. Nicole Lewis. Mrs Lewis had made a major impact in CAPA, particularly in the Drama aspect of our KLA. She has engaged students in their Drama learning and she is currently directing the students performances which are being performed to audiences within the College. Most prolifically the professionalism she displayed in her directorial role for our fantastic Musical must not be forgotten. Thank you Mrs. Lewis for all you have bought to our College community and wishing you well in the new adventure which await you and your family.

Now from the classroom…

Year 7 Visual Arts students are exploring photography, composition and the use of photoshop to create interesting compositions.

Year 8 Visual Arts students have explored the tradition of printmaking and are currently creating lino prints and applying a number mediums to enhance their creative compositions.

Year 9 and 10 Visual Arts and Photography and Digital Media students have just returned from an excursion to Canberra. Students explored the permanent exhibition at the National Gallery of Australia where they viewed a range of very famous 20th Century and current artworks. Students also ventured across to the Portrait Gallery where they participated in a workshop where they discussed the artists practice and engaged in drawing activities focusing on the person and portraiture.

Year 12 Visual Arts students have started the HSC journey and are exploring concepts and experimenting with materials and mediums. All students have also been engaged in learning about artists who use social and cultural issues as a basis for their artmaking practice. It will be exciting to see the various concepts and artworks as they emerge over the coming months.

We are looking forward to 2023 and the opportunities this will bring.
