Textiles Wrap Up

Year 10 Threads, Fashion & Print

Throughout this term, the Year 10 Textiles selective was provided with the opportunity to partner with Edgars Creek Primary School. Our year 10's were tasked with the challenge to create a 'reading buddy' soft toy for the Primary school students to use in their Library. This term their toys were to be based of the character 'Pig the Pug'. The journey commenced with students meeting the year 1 students in their library and co-designing their very own pug. With their very creative pugs, our year 10's were challenged with the task of bringing their drawing into life. Our students then cut, sewed, dry felted and embroidered their Pig the Pug's until the year 1's drawings were turned into 3D felted soft toys. The year 10 students were tasked with a challenging yet rewarding task that saw students replicating gold chains and crowns down to the very last moment. The year 1's were overjoyed when the year 10's were able to reveal their pugs and were looking forward in reading to their very own Pig the Pugs in the College's Library. Along with semester 1's 'Macca the Alpaca' toys they will remain in the Library to be loved long into next year.

Congratulations on each and every Year 10 student involved for representing our College in a meaningful way.
